Promoworx Design Studio is always looking to upgrade on the latest technology. In such a technology driven age and with our entire field relying on the latest design software it is pertinent that we not only be creatively obsessed but complete techy geeks as well. And with the latest release of the film ‘Jobs‘, the story of Steve Jobs’ ascension from college dropout into one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century, we thought this would be a perfect time to reflect on one of the greatest dominant ‘tech’ companies of our time.

Apple, formerly Apple Computer Inc., is a multinational corporation founded by the two Steves, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, two college drop outs from Reed College and Berkley, not bad hey? They created Apple Computer Inc. on April 1, 1976 with the release of the Apple 1, running their small organisation out of there garage. For more than two decades, Apple Computer was predominantly a manufacturer of personal computers, including the Apple 2, MacIntosh and Power Mac lines, until they faced rocky sales and a extremely low market share during the 1990s after Steve Jobs had been ousted from the company in 1985.

Coming back to Apple with a second big bang, he became the company’s interim CEO and instilled a new corporate philosophy, recognisable products and simple design, starting with the original iMac in 1998. Since then Apple has become the largest publicly traded corporation in the world by market capitalisation with the introduction of Mac Computers, ipod’s and the iphone, which is transitioning to become ‘the’ phone of the business world.

Created by the team behind Next Worth, the following infographic is all about Apple’s star product—the iPhone. From design history to the fact that the iPhone is now available in 100 countries only 5 years after it’s launch, here’s a little insight to just why this gadget is attached to everyone’s hip around the globe. (any excuse for a cool infographic right?)
